Add dropdowns in Canva
Create selectable menus in Docs and Sheets using dropdowns. They're perfect for organizing information, tracking progress, or adding quick-input options like status labels, categories, and more.
Add a dropdown to your design
- On the floating toolbar, select Actions or click on a cell and type / to open Quick actions, then search for Dropdown.
- Select Dropdown from the suggested actions.
- Choose Create dropdown or select a Preset dropdown.
- To edit an option, hover over a premade option to start customization. From here, you may rename, change colour, or delete an option.
- To add another option, select Add new option.
- To change format or style, hover your cursor and select an action from the toolbar, similar to how you would format a text.
- To delete a dropdown, select the cell and press delete on your keyboard.
You can add dropdowns to multiple cells and customise each one separately.

You can fully personalize your dropdown options to match your needs.
- Click the dropdown pill you want to customise, then select Edit.
- For each dropdown option, you can:
- Rename the label
- Select a colour to represent the option
- Delete any option
- Add a new option by clicking + Add new option
- If the dropdown appears elsewhere in your sheet, you'll see a prompt asking if you want to apply changes to all similar dropdowns.
- Select this option to sync updates across matching dropdowns.

Want to turn your existing entries into dropdowns? You can convert entire columns or selected cells in just a few clicks.
- Highlight the cells or entire column you wish to turn into dropdowns.
- Click the Actions button in the floating toolbar.
- Select Dropdown, then click + Create dropdown.
- Canva will automatically convert your selected values into dropdown options.
